On 7th September 2024, the Mozilla Responsible Computing Challenge team, at Kerala University of Digital Sciences, Innovation and Technology, organised an insightful talk session on Exploring AI Ethics. The event was headlined by Ms. Nidhi Sudha, Co-Founder of Citizen Digital Foundation, as the keynote speaker. The session witnessed the participation of around 130 attendees, including students, faculty members, and industry professionals.
The session was inaugurated with a welcome speech by Prof. Ashraf S, Dean of Academics at Kerala University of Digital Sciences, Innovation and Technology, who set the tone by highlighting the importance of responsible AI development and ethical considerations in today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape.
Mr. Jibu Elias, Country Lead for India at Mozilla Responsible Computing Challenge, graced the event as one of the honourable guest. His presence further emphasized the significance of creating inclusive, ethical, and responsible AI systems that align with Mozilla's mission.
Ms. Nidhi Sudha delivered a compelling talk focusing on the key principles of AI ethics, including fairness, transparency, accountability, and inclusivity. She elaborated on the ethical dilemmas that arise in the development and deployment of AI systems and encouraged the participants to think critically about the impact of AI technologies on society.
The interactive session that followed allowed participants to engage with Ms. Sudha, posing thought-provoking questions on how to balance innovation with ethical responsibility. Dr. Anoop V S facilitated the discussion, ensuring that key takeaways from the talk resonated with the audience.
